Power Spellbreaker

A power Spellbreaker that strips boons and turns the strip into damage — Spear and double Axe on Berserker's and Marauder.

It carries Winds of Disenchantment like every Spellbreaker, but it is the one that can also kill what comes out of the bubble. Take it when the squad's boons and healing are already covered and you want the strip on a body that hits.

Why these traits

The strip and the damage are one mechanism. Loss Aversion makes every boon you remove deal damage and pay you adrenaline, Enchantment Collapse makes each removal spread to nearby foes, and Dispelling Force — a line minor — means your disables strip boons without you spending a skill on it.

The damage then sits at both ends of that sequence: Destruction of the Empowered hits harder for every boon still on the target, and Pure Strike doubles its critical-damage bonus once the target has none. Berserker's Power adds strike damage off bursts, which come often here — Spellbreaker's Conviction caps you at two bars of adrenaline and level-1 bursts, and Attacker's Insight refreshes every burst when Full Counter lands. Peak Performance is in for its flat strike damage only; the build slots no physical skills, so the rest of that trait never fires.

Gear reasoning

Berserker's with Marauder mixed in: the vitality is what lets you stand in the enemy melee ball long enough to place the bubble. Infiltration is a plain power-and-precision stat rune — it does nothing clever with boons, it just makes the hits bigger.

Nullification removes a boon when you strike a foe from its flank, which is another trigger for Loss Aversion and Enchantment Collapse. Fire adds a blast on critical hits, Bloodlust stacks power off kills, and Hydromancy pays you for a weapon swap you make constantly anyway — Versatile Rage and Versatile Power give you adrenaline and might for the same swap, and Fast Hands gives you the swiftness that Warrior's Sprint turns into more strike damage. Thief stacks strike damage from weapon skills that have a recharge, so it fills up on its own while you rotate.

When not to run it

Winds opens a window. It does not close a fight. Without a squad pushing into the space it makes, you have spent your elite to peel a few boons off people who then kill you, because everything here is short-ranged and there is nothing in the bar that keeps you alive except Balanced Stance and Defiant Stance.

If what the squad is short of is boons or bodies staying up, the strip is not the fix. Bring Boon Spellbreaker for the same bubble from a support slot, or Heal Paragon if people are simply dying.
